AUGUSTA, Ga. – The world’s No. 1 player is about all that’s missing from the potential weekend fireworks at the 75th Masters.

Martin Kaymer missed the cut and is 0 for 4 trying to play the weekend at the Masters.

He now risks losing his top ranking.

Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods all have chances to seize the top ranking.

“I didn’t play well enough yesterday,” Kaymer said. “If you have a bad day on a course somewhere else, you may shoot one or two over. Here, you are penalized a lot more.”

Kaymer opened with a 78 and followed with a 72, missing the cut by five shots.

No. 2 Westwood and No. 3 Mickelson can become No. 1 with a Masters' victory regardless what anyone else does.

No. 4 Donald becomes No. 1 if he wins and Westwood finishes worse than solo second.

No. 7 Woods becomes No. 1 if he wins and Mickelson finishes worse than solo second and Westwood finishes outside the top three.

No. 5 Graeme McDowell missed the cut. No. 6 Paul Casey by virtue of divisors and OWGR rolling two-year math has no shot to become No. 1 this week.
