Actually, McIlroy hadn’t slept after an all-night celebration of his U.S. Open victory at Congressional Country Club.
Kerr could relate to what McIlroy was feeling after winning in a historic rout. A year ago, Kerr won the Wegmans LPGA Championship by a record 12 shots.
Asked what advice she would give McIlroy in dealing with the aftermath of such a feat, Kerr said: “Get some rest.”
Like McIlroy, Kerr's sponsored by the watchmaker Audemars Piguet. She said she was impressed McIlroy even made the outing.
'You could see he was just so really tired, but he was still there,' Kerr said. 'He still honored his commitment.'
When asked if it bothered her that McIlroy is receiving so much more attention for his historic victory, Kerr said she was pleased with the attention she received. Kerr did acknowledge the difference.
“A lot of the world doesn’t know who we are,” Kerr said of LPGA pros. “That’s a problem. We are trying to change that.”
