The U.S. Golf Association announced Wednesday it has appointed Martha Lang to a second one-year term as chairwoman of the USGA Women’s Committee for 2012. Lang will oversee the administration of six USGA events for women and girls.

“I’ve really enjoyed [the first term] more than I thought I would,” said Lang in a release. “I enjoy working with all the committees and the USGA staff. The more you work with them, the more you realize how good they are.”

An accomplished player, Lang won the 1988 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and represented the U.S. Curtis Cup team as a player in 1992 and as captain in 1996.

Despite her role, Lang remains an active player in the amateur ranks. She qualified for two USGA events in 2011 - the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur and the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur.
