SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – After finishing the Waste Management Phoenix Open at 3-under 281 for the week (25 shots higher than his performance at TPC Scottsdale just one year ago), Phil Mickelson confirmed he will add the Honda Classic to his upcoming schedule.
Mickelson will play at next week’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am – he maintained all week in Scottsdale his “back feels great” – before taking a couple weeks off. He will not play the Northern Trust Open or the WGC-Accenture Match Play.
“I have two weeks off (after Pebble),” Mickelson said. “My kids are out of school. They're both at different schools, so that's two different spring breaks the week of L.A. (Northern Trust) and Match Play. Because I am missing L.A. and I like to play that week, I am going to add Honda which I normally have not played in quite a few years, but I'm excited to get back there and play this year.”
Mickelson will join Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy in the Honda field. It has not yet been revealed whether world No. 1 Tiger Woods will play Honda.
