Three months after supplying some pointed comments about what former world No. 1 Rory McIlroy needs to succeed, Hall of Famer Gary Player expanded on his earlier statements regarding the Ulsterman.

'If you're a young man like Rory, you can't play with worries,' Player said of the 24-year-old McIlroy during an interview with ESPN's 'SportsCenter.' 'You can't have managerial problems, you can't have women problems. You've got to be out there and have a free mind.'

Following a largely underwhelming 2013 season in which he failed to record a victory on either the PGA Tour or European Tour, McIlroy recently left Horizon Sports Management to form his own management company. Player went on to focus his comments on relationship advice for the two-time major champion, who is currently dating tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

'He's got to find himself a wife that'll help him, actually almost dedicate her life to him being a success,' added the 77-year-old South African. 'And that's hard to find today, because women are extremely independent today. It's a very different time than when we were around.'
