Poulter on a rowdy Ryder Cup: 'Bring it on!'

Make some noise, Chicago.

European Ryder Cupper Ian Poulter wants Medinah Country Club to be rocking when the matches begin in late September.

“Bring it on,” Poulter said Wednesday on “Morning Drive.” “I am so flippin’ pumped, I can’t even tell you. Let’s hear 80,000 guys just causing the biggest amount of electricity on a golf course. I want to hear that U-S-A! chant. That fired me up so much.”

On Monday, the Englishman was named one of Jose Maria Olazabal’s captain’s picks, along with Nicolas Colsaerts. Poulter was 11th on the World Points list, and his selection was an easy one: He has an 8-3 record in three Ryder Cup appearances and always seems to feed off the energy of the event.

It’s no surprise, then, that Poulter already is asking Chicagoans to pump up the volume. Whether the cheers are for or against him – with the event being played in the States, probably the latter – it matters little.

“Bring it on!” he reiterated. “Give me every single piece of it. I cannot wait.”
