
Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke were recognized by Queen Elizabeth II in her New Year Honours List, released Friday.
U.S. Open champion McIlroy will be honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) after becoming the youngest winner of the Open (22) since Bobby Jones in 1923.
Fellow Northern Irishman Clarke will become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) after winning his first major at Royal St. George's in July in his 20th playing of the British Open.
The duo join countryman Graeme McDowell, who was made an OBE after winning the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.
