LEMONT, Ill. – Ryan Moore closed with five consecutive birdies and set the back-nine scoring record at Cog Hill with a 29.

His 6-under-par 65 Thursday at the BMW Championship wasn’t exactly fueled with a confident attitude.

Moore is 58th on the FedEx Cup points list and must climb among the top 30 to advance to the playoff finale, the Tour Championship.

“In my mind, this is my last tournament of the year,” Moore said. “I’m just playing hard. I’m just trying to see what I can do.”

Moore's never advanced all the way through the FedEx Cup and made it to the Tour Championship.

'Never, ever made it to Atlanta,' Moore said. 'Really, at this point, not really planning on it.'
