ARDMORE, Pa. – Steve Stricker is a part-time golfer these days. Electing to spend more time with his family this year, the 46-year-old has competed in just six events prior to this week’s U.S. Open.

He hardly looks rusty, though.

Stricker posted a second-round 1-under 69 to move into a five-way tie for third place entering the weekend, just a stroke behind co-leaders Phil Mickelson and Billy Horschel.

“I played solid all day. I had a lot of opportunities. I missed a couple that I thought I could have made or it looked good,” he said. “All in all, a good day. It was a good up and down on the last to keep the momentum going.”

In 17 career U.S. Open starts, Stricker has three top-10 finishes, with a best finish of fifth place.
