SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Massive crowds at the Waste Management Phoenix Open this week resulted in the fourth-largest week-long attendance mark in tournament history.

For the week, the total number reached 518,262. That’s more than 150,000 people than last year, when cold weather affected the festivities, but fell short of the record set in 2008 when 538,356 attended the event.

After a third-round record of 173,210 spectators, the tournament needed 78,542 to set the new mark on Sunday but managed only 58,447.
