It is referred to as SLDR, and also known as 'prototype.' TaylorMade’s newest driver has created an instant buzz on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

“They’re calling it prototype now,” one player at the John Deere Classic told Golf Channel. “It’s got SLDR, ‘slider’ I guess, on the bottom.”

According to sources at TaylorMade, the company brought 20 of the prototypes to this week’s John Deere Classic that had already been fitted and doled out to players for testing by Monday afternoon.

Although the company has declined to offer any further details about the new driver, the “slider” appears to be another version of TaylorMade’s adjustable technology.

The company also unveiled the new driver at this week’s Scottish Open. Among the players testing the new model was European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
