PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Michelle Wie closed hard with three birdies over the final five holes Sunday at the Wegmans LPGA Championship to give her back-to-back top-10 finishes.

Wie posted her first top-10 finish of the year, tying for ninth in windy, tough conditions last week at the Shoprite LPGA Classic.  She tied for ninth Sunday at Wegmans again in tough conditions on a difficult major-championship setup.

Wie’s finish helped her move up another spot in the U.S. Solheim Cup points standings to 12th. She needs to finish among the top eight by the conclusion of the Ricoh Women’s British Open the first week of August to automatically qualify for the team. She climbed three spots with her finish at Shoprite last week.

“I’ve been thinking about the Solheim Cup since the beginning of the season,” Wie said Saturday. “It’s definitely one of the most important things for me, to make the team. I’ve been working all season to get points, so hopefully this week I can get some points.”
