Unfamiliar 18th for Woods

ORLANDO, Fla. – In consecutive years (2008 and 2009) Tiger Woods won Bay Hill with walk-offs on the 18th green, snapshots that seemed as far away from reality as one could get on a blustery Thursday.

In Round 1, Woods hit just four of 14 fairways, needed 32 putts and played a downright pedestrian 18th hole, at least by comparison to his last two Sunday trips down the par 4. His drive at the last nestled into the right rough, he punched up short of the green and missed his 6-footer for par.

“I didn’t drive the ball well all day and the wind was gusting and I had a hard time with my putter going back straight,” he said.

Still, at 1 over he’s tied for 33rd and within four strokes of everyone not named Spencer Levin.
