Michelle Wie doesn’t have plans to tee it up in a PGA Tour event anytime soon, but she’ll be practicing with a quite a few PGA Tour pros when she sets up her new base in South Florida.

Wie, back in action this week at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, has joined the Bear’s Club, Jack Nicklaus’ golf club in Jupiter, Fla. She’s the club’s first LPGA member. She’s moving to Jupiter this summer.

“The Big Easy and the Big Wiesy at one club,” says David Leadbetter, Wie’s swing coach.

Ernie Els, “The Big Easy,” is a member at the Bear’s Club. So is world No. 1 Luke Donald.

“A lot of Michelle’s friends are down there,” says Nickole Raymond, Wie’s agent.

Jeehae Lee, one of Wie’s closest friends, recently moved there. A lot of LPGA pros make their home in the area. Morgan Pressel, Karrie Webb, Stacy Lewis, Beth Daniel and Meg Mallon are among them. Plus, Leadbetter has an academy at PGA National in neighboring Palm Beach Gardens.

Leadbetter said practicing alongside the PGA Tour pros at the Bear’s Club appeals to Wie.

“She still enjoys pitting her talent against them,” Leadbetter said.
