Wie withdraws from Evian Masters pro-am

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France – Michelle Wie withdrew from the Evian Masters pro-am on Wednesday after feeling unwell midway through her round at the Evian Masters Golf Club. Wie, the 12th ranked player in the Rolex Women's World Rankings, was treated for dehydration after pulling-out at her 10th hole of the day. Despite the mishap, Wie fully expects to play the tournament, she begins the quest for a first Evian title at 9.20am partnering Morgan Pressel and Jiyai Shin in the opening round.

Paula Creamer was not the most famous face in her pro-am grouping. Actor Hugh Grant made a surprise appearance at the Evian Masters. Many fans had no idea the star was in the group after he mysteriously appeared on the draw-sheet as Robert Macintosh. Creamer, the recent US Women's Open champion didn't touch a club all of last week, in a bid to rest her thumb which she says is still giving her some discomfort.

The recent weather in Evian has been hot and sunny, bitter sweet for the sponsors, warm weather means more people drink their product, but no rain in the home of the famous spring means less of the pure stuff to bottle, apparently. They may get their wish for more water running off the Alps this week, the forecast looks miserable for Thursday and Friday with heavy rains, those involved with this event are hoping the clouds skirt the golf course, which at present is bone-dry. So much so that the sprinklers were in full-force at times on Wednesday. One errand jet almost soaked our studio which sits atop the grandstand behind the 5th green. Brian Hammons and Jane Crafter were only saved from a royal soaking by our quick thinking floor manager.
