Winds of change in Boston

NORTON, Mass. – Players were greeted with swirling winds and cool temperatures on Sunday at TPC Boston, a potent combination for a golf course that was rapidly drying out even in the wake of Hurricane Earl.

“The thing is it’s coming from so many different directions,” Jason Bohn said. “Yesterday it was out of the west and you could play it out of the west. Today you felt like it was out of one direction and then you’d get over your ball and feel like it was blowing from somewhere else.”

On cue, Bohn pointed to Aaron Baddeley, who was in the group behind Bohn, and asked how close the group’s tee shot was at No. 14, a demanding par 4 with a sinister pin position.

“About 12 feet, but we only had 8-iron (into the hole). What did you have?” Baddeley asked.

“Hybrid,” sighed Bohn, his point made. “You see, there you go.”
