Woods Cog Hill conundrum

Our friends on XM Radio’s PGA Tour Network mused after Tiger Woods signed for his second-round 72 that left him tied for 45th at 3 over par that the world No. 1 would need a “round of the day” on either Saturday or Sunday at Cog Hill to make it into the top 30 on the FedEx Cup points list and to the Tour Championship.

Although the odds of Woods not qualifying for East Lake for just the second time since his last year at Stanford seem long, a “round of the day” seems like even more of a stretch even for a resurgent Woods.

In 43 rounds this season Woods has only accomplished that feat once, on Saturday at the U.S. Open when he matched Dustin Johnson’s 66 for the day’s low card.
