LEMONT, Ill. – Tiger Woods posted his best round of the week Saturday at the BMW Championship.

With a 3-under-par 68 at Cog Hill, he was tied for 22nd when he left the course. The PGA Tour now projects he needs to finish tied for fourth or better Sunday to advance to Atlanta and avoid being eliminated from the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

When he signed his card, Woods was eight shots off the lead and six shots off a T-5 finish.

“Hopefully, tomorrow, I can play myself into a round where I can be in contention,” Woods said.

Woods has missed two Tour Championships in 14 seasons as a pro, but he's never failed to qualify for it. He skipped the Tour Championship in '06, citing fatigue. He missed it because of injury in '08.
