CHASKA, Minn. – Tiger Woods has been taken to task of late by more than one columnist for his club thumping and language after shots go astray.

He was asked in Tuesday’s news conference if by changing that behavior he believed “people would find your reputation as a sportsman as equally impregnable and unassailable as your reputation as a championship golfer?”

Woods’ response: “That’s a great question, or statement. It is what it is. Unfortunately, I do make mistakes, and I hit bad shots and I say bad things at times. I don’t mean to, it just comes out. It’s not something that I try and do. It just happens. Have I been trying to get better at that? Yeah, my entire life. But it happens from time to time, and I'm not the only person that does it.'
