Space balls: Anniversary of Shepard's moon shot

Forty-three years ago today, on Feb. 6, 1971, Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard became the fifth person to walk on the surface of the moon. More importantly, he became the first person to hit golf balls into space. Shepard, then 47, used a makeshift 6-iron to smack a few balls into the cosmos, miles and miles and miles.
