LPGA Joins Forces with Golfsmith

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has selected multi-channel golf retailer Golfsmith International, Inc., as its exclusive off-course golf specialty retailer for the LPGA Collection, a golf apparel line for women that will be available in May 2004. The LPGA-branded apparel will be sold nationwide through Golfsmiths catalog, online store at and its coast-to-coast network of golf superstores, which will reach 42 stores in 14 markets by April.

The LPGA is thrilled to be joining forces with Golfsmith and to have the opportunity to offer women here in the United States stylish golf apparel that can meet both their performance and fashion needs, said Karen Durkin, LPGA senior vice president and chief marketing officer. The LPGA line is a beautiful apparel collection designed for women by a woman, and this new partnership is a great way for us to provide our women fans with new opportunities to experience the LPGA.
The LPGA Collection is being manufactured by Benchmark Athletic, Inc., a Canadian company that has held the LPGA apparel license in Canada since 1999. Sales and distribution of USA collection of LPGA apparel will be managed by BITE Golf, a leading footwear and accessories company serving the
golf and outdoor markets since 1996.
The LPGA Collection at Golfsmith locations in the Unites States will feature tops with fashionable neck treatments, skorts, capri pants and flat-front bottoms. Accessories from Team Effort and matching footwear from Bite will complete the Spring 2004 collection.

By combining fashion with performance, the LPGA brand has capitalized on the convergence of style and sport to become solidly established in leading international markets. LPGA apparel and accessory collections are available today in Canada, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
