Big Stars Headline in Scotland

2006 Dunhill Links Championship FIFE, Scotland - The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is the big draw this week for golf's top stars.
Last year, Padraig Harrington won the event for a second time, shooting four rounds in the 60s to beat Bradley Dredge, Edward Loar and Anthony Wall by five shots at 16-under 271.
The same way local favorite Colin Montgomerie's win in 2005 helped him to his eighth Order of Merit title, Harrington's victory last year helped the Irishman garner his first. Harrington and Montgomerie are in the field this week, as are a host of top pros from both sides of the pond.
Play is spread out over three courses -- Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and the Old Course at St. Andrews -- for the first three rounds, before the final round is played on the Old Course. After three rounds of pro-am competition, the top amateur teams move on to the final round to compete for more prizes.
The GOLF CHANNEL will have coverage of all four rounds.
Next week is the HSBC World Match Play Championship, where Paul Casey defeated Shaun Micheel in the final to claim more than $1.86 million.
