Champions Battle as LPGA Returns to US

2006 Mitchell Co. Tournament of ChampionsMOBILE, Ala. -- The LPGA returns to the United States after three weeks in Asia for the penultimate event on the 2007 schedule.
Last year, World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa blew away the field, winning by 10 shots despite a second-round 73. Her other three rounds were 66, 63 and 65.
The win was Ochoa's sixth of the season and it clinched Player of the Year honors for the Mexican. She has already wrapped that honor up this year thanks to seven wins, including the Women's British Open.
The select field of 38 players includes tournament champions from 2004-07 and active LPGA Tour and World Golf Hall of Fame members.
Former World No. 1 Annika Sorenstam returns to action for the first time since the Honda LPGA Thailand. This will be just her 12th event of the season.
Also teeing it up this week will be first-time winners this year including McDonald's LPGA Championship winner Suzann Pettersen, Kraft Nabisco Champion Morgan Pressel and Evian Masters winner Natalie Gulbis.
GOLF CHANNEL will have coverage of all four rounds this week. Next week is the final event of the 2007 season, the ADT Championship, where Julieta Granada won last year.
