Mann to Captain US Junior Ryder Cup Squad

PGA of America (150x150)Will Mann was named the captain of the 2004 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team Tuesday by the PGA of America. Mann, who was the president of the PGA of America from 1998 to 2000, will lead the 12- player U.S. Team.
'It's an honor and a privilege to lead this team in one of junior golf's premier events,' said Mann, who is the owner and director of golf at Quarry Hills Country Club in Swepsonville, N.C. 'I'm looking forward to seeing who qualifies for the team.'
The 12-member teams consist of six boys and six girls under the age of 16. The U.S. players earn spots on the team through the 2004 Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series/Westfield Junior PGA Championship points system.
The last event to earn points is the Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series event at Tripoli Country Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The squad will be finalized on August 10, after this event concludes.
The second playing of the Junior Ryder Cup matches will take place at Westfield Group Country Club in Westfield Center, Ohio on September 11-12.
In the first Junior Ryder Cup Matches in 2002 at the K-Club in Ireland, the European Team earned a 9 1/2 to 2 1/2 victory over the Americans.
