Rains Continue to Plague Madeira Open

SANTO DA SERRA, Madeira -- Heavy rain continued to plague the Madeira Island Open on Friday as play was suspended for the day with just 18 players able to complete their second rounds.
The second round will resume Saturday morning at 3:00 AM (ET). The third round will start no earlier than 10:00 AM.
Brad Kennedy, who finished off a first round of 10-under-par 62 early on Friday, remains the leader as he stands at 11 under through nine holes.
Jamie Spence is 4 under for his round through 12 holes and stands alone in second place at 10-under par.
Knud Storgaard is the leader in the clubhouse at 8-under-par 136 after a round of 67. Rob Rashell also stands at minus-8 through 12 holes, while Paul Broadhurst has also finished 12 holes and is one stroke back at 7 under.
Kennedy picked up three birdies over the final seven holes of his first round to finish at minus-10, four shots clear of Spence.
The Australian began his second round at Santo da Serra Golf Club with a birdie at the par-4 second. He then birdied the par-3 eighth to move to 12 under.
However, the 29-year-old dropped a stroke at the very next hole before rain halted action for the day.
Bradley Dredge, the defending champion, has played 12 holes of his second round and shares 17th place at 3 under par.
