Sorenstam Opens Four-Shot Lead

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Annika Sorenstam returned to DuPont Country Club early Sunday morning to complete a third round of 1-over-par 72 that put her four shots ahead of the competition. Sorenstam finished 54 holes at 7-under-par 206 in her quest for her first victory at the McDonald's LPGA Championship.
Play was washed out on Saturday leaving Sorenstam tied with Hee-Won Han at 7-under par through three holes. Upon their return to the DuPont Course, Sorenstam bogeyed the par-3 fourth.
Sorenstam had to grind it out with 11 straight pars before a birdie at the par-3 17th. She closed with a bogey at the last and although her round was nothing out of the ordinary, it was much better than anything her challengers could put together.
The Swede now stands 18 holes away from a title that has eluded her throughout her career.
Han stumbled Sunday morning with a double-bogey at the par-4 sixth and a bogey at the following hole. She birdied the par-5 ninth to make the turn at 5-under but faltered down the stretch with two bogeys over her last three holes for a round of 74.
The Korean was joined by Kate Golden, who shot a 68, in a tie for second at 3-under-par 210.
Kelli Kuehne made the biggest move on Sunday. She fired a 6-under 65 to move from a tie for 50th into a tie for fourth with Grace Park at 2-under-par 211.
