AVONDALE, La. – He may have finished last among the 71 players who made the cut at the Zurich Classic, but Guan Tianlang maintains that he became a better player this week.

The 14-year-old from China completed a disappointing weekend with a 2-over 74 Sunday at TPC Louisiana. He finished at 4-over 292.

The week began auspiciously for Guan, who shot 72-69 and made the cut on the number, his second in a row (Masters). He is the youngest player ever to make the cut in a PGA Tour event.

“It was another good week,” he said Sunday. “I had fun here and played some good rounds.”

Now, Guan will turn his attention to his U.S. Open local qualifier, to be played in two weeks in Dallas.

“I got a little better (this week),” he said, “but I still have a long way to go.”
