The teams of Jordan Spieth-Ryan Palmer, Justin Thomas-Bud Cauley and Sergio Garcia-Rafa Cabrera Bello all missed by one. Jon Rahm and Wesley Bryan shot 75 in alternate shot to miss by two, and Brooks Koepka and Marc Turnesa carded a 78 and tied for 70th.

Spieth’s team had the best chance to stick around for the weekend, but he rinsed two balls over the last two holes.

With 10 of the top 15 players in the world, this was the strongest field in tournament history.

Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood, Jason Day and Henrik Stenson are all remaining.
