LPGA officials say they’re still gathering a response to the U.S. Golf Association and Royal & Ancient Golf Club’s proposed rule change that would ban anchoring putters.
The USGA and R&A’s 90-day comment period ends Thursday.
Asked Tuesday by Golfchannel.com what the LPGA’s stance toward the proposal is, LPGA chief communications officer Kraig Kann released this statement: “Still very early in our season, we are continuing to discuss the proposed change with our membership and provide feedback directly to the USGA. While we do not have a great number of players currently using an anchored stroke, we want to ensure that all player concerns are heard and all questions are answered. We will wait for the USGA’s final determination on the matter before issuing an official or definitive stance.”
