This week marks the third event of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season, as players head to Sea Island Resort for the McGladrey Classic. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard, Randall Mell and Jason Sobel; contributors John Hawkins and John Antonini; editorial director Jay Coffin; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams; host Charlie Rymer and defending fantasy champion Ryan Lavner.
Group 1: Chris Kirk: The defending champion picks up where he left off last season, when he finished second on the final FedEx Cup points list, and his game is a perfect fit for the Seaside Course.
Group 2: Charles Howell III: The veteran has played in every McGladrey Classic and he's never missed the cut, which has lifted him to 13th all-time in earnings at the Sea Island stop.
Group 3: Tony Finau: The rookie is off to a fast start following a tie for 12th at his season-opener and a tie for seventh last week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Group 4: Hudson Swafford: His first year on Tour didn't go the way he'd hoped, but he's already off to a fast start this season (T-8 at the Frys.com Open and T-18 in Las Vegas), and as a member of the "Sea Island mafia" he has plenty of experience on the coastal layout.
Group 1: Chris Kirk: Pick a Sea Islander, any Sea Islander. Even just Group 1 is loaded with 'em, but I'll take a guy who used to call Sea Island home and who's a former champ here.
Group 2: Russell Henley: That's right - another UGA player in the heart of UGA country. Call me a sucker for home-field advantage.
Group 3: Kevin Kisner: Anyone else sensing a pattern here? Just hoping my picks can keep their drives "between the hedges" this week.
Group 4: Hudson Swafford: Who am I to kill a theme? Truth be told, I like Swafford more than his Dawg 'mates. He could be the next first-time winner.
