HUMBLE, Texas – After Rory McIlroy made an 11th hour decision Friday to compete in next week’s Valero Texas Open prior to the Masters, there was still some sentiment that a shortened version of his previously scheduled humanitarian mission to Haiti would still take place.

That trip has now been postponed.

According to a statement released by UNICEF, the organization with which McIlroy was planning the mission, he said, ‘Unfortunately, I have had to postpone my planned trip to Haiti with UNICEF, due to a change in my playing commitments. ... We are currently looking at dates to reschedule my trip and look forward to visiting Haiti very soon.’

Following rounds of 73-70, McIlroy is playing the weekend at the Shell Houston Open, then will head to San Antonio for his debut in the Valero Texas Open.
