Expert Picks: 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship

RSS

This week marks the 45th event of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season, as 99 players tee it up at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard and Randall Mell; editorial director Jay Coffin; associate editor Will Gray; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams; host Charlie Rymer and defending fantasy champion Ryan Lavner.

Rex Hoggard

Group 1: Jason DayAfter an impressive, if not exhausting, run of three victories in his last four PGA Tour starts, the Australian is showing no signs of slowing down.

Group 2: Henrik StensonThe Swede has won at TPC Boston before (2013) and looks like he’s on another post-season charge following his runner-up finish last week at The Barclays.

Group 3: Tony Finau: The big-hitting rookie is a perfect fit for TPC Boston and after an impressive FedEx Cup move last week (T-16 at The Barclays) he can solidify his spot at East Lake with another strong finish.

Group 4: Sangmoon Bae: The South Korean is running out of time before he must report for mandatory military service and he could extend his season, at least to the Tour Championship and possibly the Presidents Cup, with a good week in New England.

Ryan Lavner

Group 1: Jason Day: Three wins in his last four starts and now heads to TPC Boston, where he is a combined 64 under par since 2009, the best of any player in that span.

Group 2: Henrik Stenson: Won here two years ago, and his runner-up last week at The Barclays was his second top-6 in his last three starts.

Group 3: Robert StrebMaking a final push for the Presidents Cup, his weekend fade at Plainfield (T-39) ended a streak of five consecutive top-20s.

Group 4: Pat PerezDismal record in Beantown, but he is enjoying a quietly consistent season. Since the start of April, he has logged a top-30 in 10 of 13 starts.
