This week the 2016 fantasy golf season remains Florida, as 132 players tee it up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard and Randall Mell; editorial director Jay Coffin; associate editor Will Gray; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams; host Charlie Rymer and defending fantasy champion Ryan Lavner.
Final: Watson over D. Johnson
Rationale: Kuchar and Zach Johnson scrap their way into the semifinals on one side of the bracket, with big hitters Watson and Dustin Johnson getting in on the other side. In a longer week with pool play, Kuchar's and Zach Johnson's grinding approach will wewar folks out. Watson and Dustin Johnson will do the same on the other side, but with their overall ball-striking. In the end, though, Watson's momentum, form and confidence will win out. He'll be your champion.
Final: Fowler over Grace
Rationale: Reed's match-play skills have been well-discussed, and they'll again be on display this week when he takes out a high-profile group along with the tournament's top seed. Fowler, a former standout at Oklahoma State, thrives in this week's midwest setting while Horschel avenges last year's near-miss and Grace continues the good play he showed in Korea. It'll be a Presidents Cup-style final, but just like in October the American will eke out a victory.
Final: McIlroy over Fowler
Rationale: McIlroy's big numbers won't hurt him in match play, Fowler will once again assert himself, Willett will continue his ascent and Aphibarnrat will surprise. It's Rory vs. Rickie in the final, and McIlroy takes him down just like he did at Gleneagles. Rory in a repeat.
