GREENSBORO, N.C. – So far, this week has gone just Jonas Blixt drew it up: hit fairways, make putts, move on to next week’s Barclays and the FedEx Cup playoffs.
On Saturday, he moved closer to that final goal with a third-round 62 that has him in second place and currently projected to move from 135th to 88th in the season-long points race.
“Going into this week I would be very pleased if I secured my job,” Blixt said. “A win will take care of that. Shoot another 62, I should have a good chance.”
Jason Gore, who also shot a 62 on Saturday and is alone atop the leaderboard at 15 under, Camilo Villegas, who began the week at No. 129 on the points list, and Scott Langley (No. 126) are also currently projected to play their way into the top 125.
The four players that are projected to be displaced from the top 125 are Brian Stuard (No. 119), Scott Stallings (No. 120), Jamie Donaldson (No. 121) and Nicholas Thompson (No. 123), who all either missed the cut or are not playing the Wyndham Championship.
In the the last three years, only two players, Heath Slocum and Sangmoon Bae, have played their way into the top 125 at the Wyndham Championship, the last event before the start of the playoffs.
