Life is good for John Daly these days.
On Thursday he announced his engagement to his "soul mate," Anna Cladakis, a former promotions director for Hooters restaurants. On Saturday he won his first tournament in 10 years.
Despite shooting an even-par 72, making him the only one of the top 14 not to go under par, Daly won the Beko Classic by one shot. The tournament, played at Gloria Golf Club in Belek, Antalya, Turkey, is sanctioned by the PGAs of Europe, an association of 36 National PGAs. Others in the field included Paul Broadhurst and Darren Clarke.Daly finished the 54-hole event at 15 under.
Daly's previous win came in the 2004 Buick Invitational, where he beat Chris Riley and Luke Donald in a playoff for his fifth PGA Tour win. He made it to two playoffs in 2005, but lost on the first extra hole to Vijay Singh in the Shell Houston Open and on the second extra hole to Tiger Woods in the WGC-American Express Championship.
