Harrington enjoying people watching at Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO – It’s not in the Olympic program, but for Padraig Harrington people watching has become something of a sport this week.

Breakfast in the athlete’s village has become a regular distraction for the 44-year-old, with hundreds of Olympians coming and going.

“You think you're going there for a quick breakfast, 20 minutes, and for an hour and a half after you’re there wondering what do they do; look at this person,” Harrington said on Wednesday. “There's people who are relaxed and there's people who are stressed. There's all sorts of things going on.”

Harrington said he’s been surprised that some Olympic athletes have even recognized him and asked to take a selfie with the three-time major champion.

“I would have thought most would look at me and say, ‘Wonder what he's coaching,’” he laughed.
