Inkster on 2017 Solheim captaincy: I'd love to do it

ST. LEON-ROT, Germany – The Solheim Cup was barely in the hands of Team USA when captains Juli Inkster and Carin Koch were both asked if they’d like another opportunity to lead their respective teams.

“I’ve loved the week,” Koch said. “I think it’s a little early to ask me that. I loved the week and I’ve had so much fun with my players and I really felt the team were great together. I don’t know. Maybe.”

Early in the week some members of the media were asked to list three names of people who would be suited to captain the next American squad in Des Moines, Iowa in two years. It was difficult to come up with viable candidates who hadn’t already been captains.

Now that Inkster guided her team to an epic 14 1/2 to 13 1/2 comeback Sunday at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club, you’d have to imagine the job would be hers if she wants it.

“I’m going to go to Octoberfest and drink on it…I mean think on it, sorry,” Inkster quipped. “Yeah, I would love to do it.”
