Kizzire making a name for himself at McGladrey

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – For those looking at the McGladrey Classic leaderboard wondering who Patton Kizzire is the short answer is he shot a course-record 62 on Wednesday at nearby Ocean Forest, one of the toughest courses in Georgia.

Oh, and he started getting ready for the second stage of Tour Q-School in a few weeks with a 4-under 66 on Thursday at Sea Island for a share of fifth place in just his third PGA Tour start.

Kizzire, who was given a sponsor exemption into the event last Sunday, lives on St. Simons Island and spends most of his time practicing at Sea Island and playing money games against the likes of Zach Johnson, Harris English, Brian Harman and Hudson Swafford.

“I play a lot of golf with really good players,” said Kizzire, who won the SEC Championship while he was at Auburn on the Seaside Course. “You know, if you do beat the guys, you kind of feel like you can do it. So it's a win-win situation, and I love being down here.”

You may not know who Kizzire is now, but you will soon.
