Lee, Wie out first for U.S. in Saturday foursomes


ST. LEON-ROT, Germany – Europe leads the U.S. 5-3 after the first two sessions of the Solheim Cup and Saturday foursomes matches are underway.

U.S. Captain Juli Inkster is finally able to put together her team of rookie Alison Lee and Michelle Wie. They went out first for the Americans against Melissa Reid and Calota Ciganda. Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel were set to play against a dynamic European group of Charley Hull and Suzann Pettersen. Hull went 2-0 on Friday and won both her matches. Pettersen struggled in her lone match, a foursomes pairing with Anna Nordqvist.

Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr, Lizette Salas and Brittany Lang are sitting out the session for the Americans. Azahara Munoz, Gwladys Nocera, Karine Icher and Caroline Masson are sitting out for Europe.
