Moore nearly makes two aces on Saturday at Riviera

LOS ANGELES – There’s only been one record hole-in-one on a par-4 in PGA Tour history. On Saturday, Ryan Moore nearly made it two on one of the circuit’s most iconic holes.

Moore's tee shot on the short 10th hole at Riviera Country Club hit the bottom of the flagstick, coming dangerously close to joining Andrew Magee in one of the game’s most exclusive clubs. Instead, he didn’t even make birdie.

His ball caromed off the left side of the green, and after hitting his chip to five feet, Moore missed the birdie attempt.

Six holes later, a similar shot found a different fate.

Moore’s tee shot on the par-3 16th hole again hit the flagstick – and again caromed off the green. This time, though, he holed a birdie effort from the fringe.

For the day, Moore shot 1-over 72, leaving him in a share of seventh place, four strokes out of the lead.
