Elin Nordegren received a bachelor’s degree in psychology Saturday from Rollins College in Orlando, Fla., and during her commencement speech she subtly hinted at her relationship with her former husband, world No. 1 Tiger Woods.
Nordegren graduated with a 3.96 GPA and was afforded the opportunity to speak to the 268 other graduates after she was selected as “Top Senior” by a group of faculty members, an honor akin to valedictorian.
The 34-year-old was married to Woods from 2004-2010. During her speech, she made reference to the November 2009 car crash that led to the discovery of her husband’s infidelity and ultimately ended their marriage.
“It was right after I had taken Communication and the Media that I was unexpectedly thrust into the media limelight,” she said according to an Orlando Sentinel report. “I probably should have taken more notes in that class.”
Nordegren and Woods have two children together, and both daughter Sam and son Charlie attended Saturday’s commencement, as did Nordegren’s father and Chris Cline, the billionaire with whom she has been in a relationship for more than a year.
During her speech, she noted the changes in her life since she first began taking classes at Rollins on a part-time basis in 2005.
“I was 25 years old. I had just recently moved to America. I was married without children,” she said. “Today, nine years later, I’m a proud American, and I have two beautiful children…but I am no longer married.”
