A. Park (64) gives mom/caddie reason to dance

Annie Park’s mother likes to dance, and she didn’t mind showing off her celebratory moves Thursday at the Evian Championship.

Park gave her mom, Ann, a lot to get excited about as her caddie.

Park blitzed the Evian Resort Golf Club with a 7-under-par 64 to move into early contention, one shot off the lead.

“It’s fun with her on the bag,” Annie said. “She keeps it light, kind of embarrasses me but keeps the group fun.”

Park, who won the individual NCAA championship while at USC in 2013, is an LPGA rookie looking to make her first tour victory memorable. She won three times on the Symetra Tour last year.

“Mom used to dance a lot last year,” Park said.

Ann owns two nail salons with Annie’s sister, Bo, but caddied for Annie for all three Symetra Tour victories last year. Mom gave up the bag this year with Annie taking on a professional caddie for the first time.

The reunion was memorable Thursday with Park making five birdies and an eagle in a bogey-free round. In 21 starts this year, Park has two top-10 finishes and ranks 86th on the LPGA money list with $121,990 in winnings. Park’s sister, Bo, also made the trip to France. The three of them took a trip to Paris together before the tournament, seeing the Eiffel Tower and other sites.

“Another family vacation,” Park said.
