A difficult season for Pat Perez has been cut short because of injury.
Perez, 40, has made only three cuts in 11 starts this season, with his best result coming last month at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am when he finished T-41. He last played at the Honda Classic, where he missed the cut. On Tuesday, Perez tweeted a picture of himself preparing for shoulder surgery that he indicated would end his season:
Perez was coming off a successful 2014-15 campaign that included 11 top-25 finishes and saw him reach the BMW Championship. He eclipsed $1.5 million in on-course earnings for the first time since 2009, the year he recorded his lone PGA Tour win at the CareerBuilder Challenge.
Perez began this week No. 188 on the FedEx Cup points list, and the injury and subsequent surgery mean that he will miss the playoffs for the first time since the FedEx Cup changes were introduced in 2007.
