Morgan Pressel on Monday was named the recipient of the Golf Writers Association of America’s Charlie Bartlett Award, given to a player who contributes to the betterment of society through charitable giving.
In the past seven years, the Morgan Pressel Foundation has raised more than $4 million for breast cancer research in her hometown area of Palm Beach County, Fla.
The cause is deeply personal for Pressel, 26. Her mother, Kathy, died of breast cancer in 2003, when Morgan was only 15.
Pressel also hosts the Morgan and Friends Fight Cancer Tournament, which was held last month at her home course, St. Andrews Country Club.
Pressel will receive the award April 8 in Augusta, Ga.
“I am truly humbled to be selected to receive the Bartlett Award this year,” she said in a release. “To know that I will be joining an amazing group of individuals who have received this award before me is a great honor.”
