Ryu overtakes Park to win World Ladies Champ.

So Yeon Ryu came from a shot back in the final round Sunday to overtake Inbee Park and win the World Ladies Championship in China.

Ryu closed with a 4-under-par 69 at Mission Hills in Hainan, denying Park (71) her chance at back-to-back victories. Park, the Rolex world No. 2, led or shared the lead after each of the first three rounds on the Blackstone Course. She was the defending champ at the World Ladies Championship and coming off a victory last week at the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore.

“It was good to play with Inbee, my best friend on the tour,” said Ryu, the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open champion. “She is not No. 1 right now, but I believe she is the true No. 1. So, it was great to compete with her.”

Ryu is No. 8 in the world. Park and Ryu combined to win the two-woman team portion of the event for South Korea. World No. 5 Suzann Pettersen (70) and China’s Xiyu Lin (70) tied for third, three shots back.
