PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The secret wedding of Adam Scott and Marie Kojzar April 17 in the Bahamas was even more hush-hush then one would have imagined.
Even the limited number of friends and family who attended the event, which was first reported by the Australian Associated Press on Friday, didn’t know what they were in for.
“We just said we were having a party, so come on over. So then they had no idea that it was going to happen,” said Scott on Saturday following a third-round 69 at The Players. “That was the fun little game for me and Marie to play for awhile, planning it and stuff.”
It seems Scott’s parents were the only ones who knew about the ceremony and the Australian, who could become No. 1 in the World Golf Ranking this week, isn’t wearing a ring this week because he’s never played golf with one.
Scott said he and Kojzar, who is a 32-year-old Swedish architect, never really had an engagement period, instead they both decided it was just time. Nor did the couple go on a honeymoon because, “our life is pretty much like a honeymoon.”
Last year’s Masters champion also said that Kojzar won’t travel with him while he is playing and that he has enjoyed the first few weeks of married life.
“I'm only a couple weeks in, but I think it's good for me,” he said. “I think it really suits me. I feel very comfortable with it and I don't know that it really should change me too much.”
