Jordan Spieth officially has a beverage of choice.
Fresh off his eight-shot rout to open the year at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Coca-Cola announced Wednesday that the beverage giant has signed a "multi-year" partnership deal with Spieth, the world's top-ranked golfer.
According to the release, Spieth's responsibilities will include promoting Coca-Cola and its water brand, Dasani, "through appearances in TV commercials, digital and social media campaigns, in-store merchandising, outdoor advertising, packaging, experiential events and more."
"As a Coca-Cola brand ambassador, I look forward to bringing greater awareness to the sport of golf globally and engaging with fans in exciting new ways," Spieth said. "It's a special brand with a rich history, and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of that history."
Spieth capped his all-world season with a victory at the Tour Championship (which, coincidentally, has Coca-Cola as a presenting sponsor) in September, a win that also brought with it the season-long FedEx Cup title. He now joins a stable of high-profile Coca-Cola endorsers that includes NBA superstar LeBron James, actress Jennifer Aniston and pop star Taylor Swift.
Spieth currently tops the standings to qualify for the 2016 Olympics, where golf will return as a sport for the first time since 1904, and the brand will also include him as a U.S. Olympic hopeful on various packaging leading up to the Games this summer in Rio de Janeiro.
"Being able to compete in the Olympics is something I've always dreamed of," Spieth said. "I've represented my country before... but to be considered an Olympian and have the chance to win a gold medal for my country would be an incredible honor."
