A rough year for iconic golf trees continues.
Officials at TPC Sawgrass confirmed in a tweet Thursday that the large tree overhanging the sixth tee on the Stadium Course will be removed, citing poor health:

The tree stood out on the short par-4, creating a stark visual frame for players on the tee during the Players Championship. While it rarely came into play for the game's best, some shotmakers like Bubba Watson did opt to alter the trajectory of their tee shots to avoid contact.
The removal comes less than nine months after the Eisenhower Tree was removed from the 17th hole at Augusta National, the victim of a February ice storm.
