Watch: Phil holes out from bunker for birdie


Just when it looked like Zach Johnson had put Phil Mickelson in a difficult spot at the par-3 13th, Mickelson went ahead and won the hole for the United States, anyway.

Playing from a downslope in a bunker behind the green, Mickelson played this second shot from the sand:

The birdie put Mickelson and Johnson 2 up on Jason Day and Steven Bowditch. The U.S. would go on to win, by that same margin, with Mickelson recording the 11th foursomes match win of his Presidents Cup career, tying Tiger Woods for the most all-time.
