NORTON, Mass. – The wife of longtime PGA Tour caddie Lance Bennett, Angela, died suddenly early Wednesday. Bennett is currently on Matt Kuchar's bag.

In a statement released by Kuchar’s manager, Mark Steinberg with Excel Sports, Bennett said, “This is a very difficult time for our family, but we appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the caddies, players and entire golf community.”

Kuchar was at TPC Boston on Wednesday and told Golf Channel that he has been in communication with Bennett and plans to play the Deutsche Bank Championship. Brian Reed will caddie for Kuchar this week.

“(Kuchar’s wife) Sybi, the boys and I are sending our thoughts and prayers to Lance and (Bennett’s 4-year-old daughter) Emma Grace during this devastating time,” Kuchar said in a statement. “Angela was a cherished friend, a wonderful wife and a loving mother who made a major impact on all who were lucky enough to know her, and she will be greatly missed.”

Caddies this week at the Deutsche Bank Championship are organizing a tribute for Angela, ordering 100 black hats that will be handed out to players and caddies during Friday’s opening round.
